This practice is a continuation of our exploration of Yoga Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics focusing on back bending. The information of the core from the previous sequencing (Wk 98) and further studies will come in handy for this practice.
We will use the core to begin our journey into understanding how to safely back bend through our lumbar and cervical spine and distribute the effort throughout the body. The breath becomes the centre of the practice to guide our awareness and to open the body to the experience of a back bend. To balance out the effort, we will explore adding lateral flexions as counterposes, noticing the safer effects to the back by integrating the action within our practice.
