New Years Day Workshop: Self-Knowing as a Vehicle for Awakening

Triyoga Ealing Studio

Wed, 1 January 2020,
10:15am – 12:15pm

Price: £35

Open to all.
£35 (£30 early bird until 25th December)
****

Our unique human ability to self-reflect is one thing that sets us apart from all other sentient beings. The continual evolution of our consciousness to be awakened (for those seeking it) to that which is behind life itself is a wonder for us as humans philosophically, spiritually and cognitively. Gives a new sense to the expression; “may wonders never cease”.

This New Year’s workshop will call upon our past experiences to inform our present, honouring those who supported us along the way. We will enter practices that promote that evolution by “burning” that which impedes us from growing forward in our lives. We will draw on the teachings of:

– tantra that increase our capacity to acquire energy to positively affect all aspects of our lives.
– asana to strengthen our vessel.
– pranayama to build our vital force.
– yoga nidra to heal and nurture.
– meditation to open us to the boundless reservoir towards inspiring our potential for awakening.

We will call upon the 3-fold process of kriya yoga as the blueprint to promoting purification, self-reflection and establishing a relationship to ishvara/the divinity of your understanding. This New Year we will plant seeds of purpose and reduce the seeds of suffering thus actualising the light of knowledge within you, as you, working for you and with you to wake you up to its presence in everything.

“There is a light, that lights the whole world. It radiates absolute truth, boundless will, skill in action and is the source of all knowledge” 5 Creative Shaktis within all of us.
Expect yoga talk, asana, pranayama, yoga nidra and meditation.

Workshop with Zephyr Wildman & Fierce Calm: becoming a force for change, from our mats out into the world

Triyoga Ealing Studio

Fri, 6 December 2019
19:45 – 21:45

Open to all.
£30 (£25 early bird until 29th November)

In this workshop, in aid of OURMALA, Fierce Calm ambassador and triyoga teacher Zephyr Wildman will explore the concepts of looking within and shifting our own limited beliefs and thinking.

Through discussion, asana practice, meditation and a glorious sound bath, you will consider how we can begin to transform your relationships, global and individual, from fear and exclusion into love and inclusion.

During the practice we will contemplate what would it be like to live without fear, self-doubt, anger or resentment. What would it be like to break the cycle of suffering? What would it feel like to be content, free, fulfilled, joyous, serene, trusting and still? We aim to lift the mask to reveal what is always there: the state of yoga – this light, serenity and calmness as a result of stilling the thoughts and feelings within.

How can we be a force for change, a force of love, from the inside out, from our mats out into the world?

Fierce Calm is a global community of yoga practitioners from all backgrounds and abilities who have come together to be of service to others. We interpret the practice of yoga to mean “to come together and make whole” meaning everything and everyone is connected and that there is no separation between mind and body, or each of us as individuals. Yoga recognises that we are all one. This workshop is focused on these principles.

Fierce Calm is a charitable foundation that aims to remove barriers to make yoga accessible to all, including the most vulnerable members of society and one of the ways in which we do this is by fundraising for our primary charity partners OURMALA providing free yoga (including here at triyoga) to people seeking international protection, such as refugees, victims of trafficking and modern day slavery.

Finding Solace by Expressing Grief Workshop

triyoga Ealing

Triyoga Ealing 13 July, 2019. 2-4:30pm

Grief is a part of love. It hurts because we love. And just as we fall in love and want to share it with everyone, on social media, at weddings and parties and so on, our grief too wants to be expressed. However, in society today we find it hard to know how to express grief, support those who are grieving and find tools to help us bear what is ours to carry. Nothing will ever fix or solve our grief as it is a natural, normal and healthy reaction to loss. When we experience loss, grief fills our life with darkness. This darkness never goes way, we just learn how to expand our life around the darkness.

What can I expect?
This workshop will include:
– lectures
– journaling
– Yoga asana
– meditation practices

What will I gain from the workshop?
There are many tools to help with managing our grief. Zephyr will share some ways that the principles of yoga and Buddhist psychology can help manage grief through writing (vichara), applied yoga-asana and meditation practices. This holistic, mind-body approach will allow you to kindly open the grief experience, physically moving the body to release some of the build-up of sensation or awaken the feelings by creating sensation, a useful method of encouraging the hurt to untangle. Students will also use seated practices and guided meditation to help find more resilience by allowing us to tend to our grief with more understanding, compassion and trust.

Who is it for?
Anyone struggling with feelings of grief after loss or who wants to explore this complex emotion.

Go to my recent blog about Grief and Loss to read and find more support in the meantime. Click here.

I’m a busy bunny the next few months so I wanted to take some time to write a few words down and share some upcoming adventures with you all.

Images from internet search of Kumbh Mela

Kumbh Mela 2019

I have gifted myself time to study with my teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker and his teacher Pandit Rajmani Tigunait at the Himalayan Institute in Allahabad & Khajuraho. I have always studied with my teachers in London or in the States, however have never set foot in India to receive the teachings. So I find myself being ‘baptised by fire’ in the centre of one of the largest festivals in the world. I am really going into this blind, with simple instructions to practice my prescribed mantra for this unique retreat and to prepare for the most intense experience. I will be camping on the Himalayan Institute campus, daily practices which I have yet to know what they entail and excursions to the festival to celebrate with my fellow 150 million other pilgrims. Kumbh Mela happens every 12 years and is an auspicious festival that Hindus & Yogis gather to bathe in the sacred waters of the Ganges. Kumbha means pot and Mela means gathering. So, it is said that the symbolism of filling our vessel with the scared nectar, amrita, of the ancient Ganges at this celestial convergence is the most powerful and potent energy to create lasting transformation. I know one way or another it will have a huge impact on my life as a woman, mother, wife, teacher and most of all a student. I will return with tails to share with you. I will be away from 31 January to the 25 February. Wonderful teachers will be covering my classes in London so do support them.

Unravelling the Knots that Bind Us

triyoga Ealing

Granthi & Chakra Workshop at Triyoga Ealing

Saturday September 15th at 2-4:30pm

Granthis are “knots” binding the physical body and the psycho-emotional subtle body together. There are three Granthis covering 6 out of our 7 Chakras. These “knots” inhibit a healthy pranic flow of intelligence and function in these centres. Each of these Granthis are said to be the embodiment of 3 Hindu God-Heads, Brahma: The Creator, Vishnu: The Sustainer, and Rudra: The Roarer/Destroyer.

Using storytelling of these archetypes we will unravel the complexity of why we get knotted up in certain areas and how to use the Yogic technology to assist in our unfolding and creating a free-flowing current towards seeking contentment, serenity and stillness.

Expect a lecture, breath-centric asana, pranayama, kriya, mudra, mantra and meditation.

Zephyr’s Zen moment of advice with AsiaSpa Magazine Jan/Feb 2018

AsiaSpa_JanFeb2018_WB_WeddingStress
AsiaSpa Magazine Jan/Feb 2018.

Recently I was interviewed by AsiaSpa Magazine for some advice on a piece they were doing on “wedding day stress management”.  I was delighted to share a few techniques using Mediation and Mantras for ‘Bridal Zen.’ Below is the exert from the article.

To purchase magazine go to asiaspa.com or visit any magazine publication outlet and for Yoga and Meditation visit me at Triyoga London.

MEDITATION AND MANTRAS

“In the lead-up to your wedding day, I recommend a daily practice of yoga, pranayama and meditation,” says Zephyr Wildman, yoga and meditation teacher at Triyoga London. “This will support and nourish your physical, energetic, mental and emotional states of being. Meditating each morning aids your capability to make clear decisions, helping you respond with grace and connect to the intention of why two people marry.”

And you don’t need to go to a studio either. Finding time in your schedule can be difficult, but setting just half an hour aside in the morning to meditate at home can make a difference.

AsiaSpa_JanFeb2018_WB_WeddingStress2

Set yourself up in a quiet, phone-free spot and decide on your intention. “Setting an intention is like mentally straightening out the banks of a winding river, guiding you to set direction for manifesting your desires,” Wildman explains. “It might be to find clarity or to manage your anxiety in the run-up to your wedding.”

“Allow yourself to be as you are,” she advises. “Notice the common thoughts recycling themselves in your mind, whether pleasant or unpleasant, and allow yourself to feel it. Breathe into it then exhale, soften, release and relax. Do this until the strong feelings subside and you can detach.”

“Trace your breath with your mind and consciously direct your feelings towards a loving, kind and calm you,” Wildman continues. “This process will bring you into the present moment with a greater acceptance for life and gratitude for the blessings you have. Sit back and bask in that inner experience.”
